Mario is the man.

Not many people surf with the authority that this guy has. In the line-up he commands attention. He is a bad ass, cut, guerilla warfare Nicaraguan mother f-er. With his uncanny, keen sense of wave knowledge he seems to be in the perfect spot time after time. Believe me, even the person who thinks their wave quota is above average...think again. Mario catches more waves than humanly possible.

As if it's not enough that he catches all the waves, he is consistently the best surfer in the line-up. His repertoire of massive-beyond vertical tail blasts, nasty high-speed rail gouges a Houdini-circus act tube rides are capped off with at times, an over abundance of antics above the lip. You could say he's a "frequent flyer." Give him 30,000 bonus points for every stomped air reverse and he would be in the millions.

Because of his undeniable dominance in and out of the water, Mario is seen amongst his peers as the leader of the pack at Santana- "King Buitre". A spot he holds well too. A spot he is not easily going to just give up with out some major beef. When it comes right down to it, its looking a lot like there is a dynasty in the making. Mario has three brothers- and they all rip too.

Mario is the second oldest amongst the siblings Martinez. It goes eldest brother Solon then Mario, his younger sparring partner Junior and last but not least Yubert. As with most brother duos and triads its a full on no holds barred every session. They feed off each other and push each others surfing day after day.

If you have witnessed this first hand- you know. If not- and you happen to paddle out and he's there...sit back, watch the show, give him whatever wave he wants. He's going to take it anyway.
